From Paris to Pleasant Bay: June 8th at Wequassett Resort & Golf Club
The Center for Coastal Studies and Pleasant Bay Community Boating are pleased to present “From Paris to Pleasant Bay,” a lecture on the Paris Accord, Climate Change, and Cape Cod in celebration of World Oceans Day.
The event will kick off the Cape Cod Collaborative on Climate Change, and will be hosted by the Wequassett ResortJune 8, 2016 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The guest speaker for the event is Richard F. Delaney, the President & CEO at the Center for Coastal Studies and Co-Founder of the Global Ocean Forum.
In December 2015, 196 presidents and prime ministers gathered in Paris to sign the Paris Climate Agreement. Rich Delaney, who attended the Paris event, will discuss how the state of the world’s oceans figured in the discussions, the accord’s implications for ocean health, why these issues are more important to Cape Cod than many other parts of the world, and why rapidly changing climate may be the ultimate threat to ocean ecosystems.
Representatives from collaborating organizations across the Cape, including the Cape Cod Commission, will be available for a Q&A session with the audience about climate change initiatives and recommendations. The evening will end with a reception for attendees.
Seating is limited, so please reserve your seat by contacting paris@pbcb.cc with the number and affiliations of those in your party.
