Cape Cod bridges replacement: an urgent need

This month, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Ed Markey, and Representative Bill Keating released a report detailing the urgent need to replace the Bourne and Sagamore bridges. Entitled “Cape Cod Bridges Replacement: An Urgent Need,” the report includes data and information from thirty-six local stakeholders, including the Cape Cod Commission, highlighting the critical regional importance of the bridges.

National report highlights Commission partnerships 

A new report issued by the Federal Highway Administration highlights the Cape Cod Commission’s ongoing collaborative work with the Cape Cod National Seashore, including the effort to produce and implement the Outer Cape Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan.

Plans for road work projects region-wide are moving forward, now that the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization has approved the 2024-2028 Cape Cod Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). This annual process lays out road work projects across the region for the next five years.

Cape Cod Commission study to address parking and congestion in busy downtown Chatham 

The Cape Cod Commission is about to begin a study of parking and circulation in downtown Chatham as part of the 2024 Unified Planning Work Program. The study will identify existing parking trends and aim to better understand motorist and non-motorist circulation in the downtown area.

Real-time traffic information is available on the Cape Cod Commission’s website. Visit www.capecodcommission.org/our-work/real-time-traffic to find links to real-time traffic information and advisories for major roads in the region. The Commission’s traffic page also offers updates on major road work projects, such as the Sagamore Bridge maintenance project and ongoing work to Route 151 in Mashpee
