Category: Digital Equity
So much of our daily lives happen online - connecting with friends and family, paying bills, managing healthcare, completing school or professional work, and staying involved in the community. The Cape Cod Commission is working with several towns in the region to complete digital equity plans to ensure no one feels left behind in this increasingly online world. Digital equity plans in Bourne, Sandwich, and Orleans are complete, and the Commission is currently collaborating with Barnstable and Falmouth.

The Town of Barnstable is working with the Cape Cod Commission to develop a municipal digital equity plan to assess the digital divide across the community and to identify opportunities to advance digital equity.
Residents, businesses, and organizations are invited to attend an upcoming event to learn about the digital equity plan and contribute to the development of the plan through group exercises and conversations. Discussion topics will include internet availability, affordability, and reliability; technology and devices necessary for civic, social, and economic life; and skills to participate safely, confidently, and effectively online.
The Cape Cod Commission and the Town of Orleans have released the Draft Town of Orleans Municipal Digital Equity Plan for a 30-day public review and comment period.
A diverse group of public and private digital inclusion practitioners convened for meaningful discussions toward enhancing digital equity across Cape Cod. The Cape Cod Commission and Massachusetts Broadband Institute brought these stakeholders together at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School on May 16 for an afternoon workshop to discuss challenges and brainstorm solutions to bridging the region's digital divide.
The Cape Cod Commission is leading efforts to improve internet availability, accessibility, and affordability on Cape Cod, through an assessment of the region’s existing network and by providing municipal digital equity services.
