Overview

The Cape Cod Commission supports the 15 Barnstable County towns, regional and sub-regional housing agencies, and other partners seeking to improve the availability and diversity of housing affordable to the community. This role includes the development of information to support local decision making including visual presentations, coordination with state and regional agencies, meeting facilitation, zoning analysis and support, and serving as a liaison to programs sponsored by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Housing challenges on Cape Cod are region-wide, reflecting the unique challenges of our region's economy, historic development patterns, and persistent demand for second homes and seasonal accommodations. By sustaining regional and local information about the status of our housing market and best practices, the Commission is positioned to help guide local efforts. Technical guidance may include, upon request, the review of local development proposals, zoning or other regulations, organizing plans for affordable housing funds or trusts, data collection for housing production plans, or analyses on the nature of the region's housing challenges.
