Staffing Update

This summer, The Cape Cod Commission welcomed three new staff members, new Communications Manager Sarah Colvin, Regulatory Officer Jordan Velozo, and Administrative Assistant Mallory Kender. We are also pleased to announce the promotion of Jennifer Clinton from Special Projects Coordinator to Community Development Planner.  

Sarah Colvin | Communications Manager 

A former broadcast journalist, Sarah has been reporting on the issues of importance on Cape Cod since 2005.  Throughout her career, Sarah has worked as a radio news reporter, news director, and television host and producer. She grew her passion for local government communications during her time as host and producer of the Town of Barnstable’s daily municipal news program, “Barnstable This Morning”. Born and raised on Cape Cod, Sarah is excited to continue to work to connect the community with important information and opportunities to improve and protect our region. Sarah began her role as the Cape Cod Commission’s Communications Manager in July.

Jordan Velozo| Regulatory Officer 

Jordan Velozo is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and a member of the Massachusetts Bar. Immediately following law school, Jordan brought her strong interest in public policy to the State House where she worked as Legislative Director and General Counsel for the Massachusetts State Senator for the Cape and Islands District. There, she drafted legislation to address unique issues facing Cape Cod including housing attainability, coastal resiliency, and water quality. Jordan joined the Cape Cod Commission staff in July as a Regulatory Officer. As part of the Commission’s regulatory staff, Jordan assists with review and analysis of proposed developments of regional impact for consistency with the Cape Cod Regional Policy Plan.  

Mallory Kender | Administrative Assistant 

Mallory Kender is a native of Brewster and shares deeply in the Cape Cod Commission’s mission “to keep a special place special.”  A graduate of Nauset Regional High School, Mallory went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and later studied sustainable building and design at Yestermorrow Design Build School in Vermont.  In recent years, she has worked within the Cape’s local food movement as a farmer, baker, and chocolate maker.  Mallory brings municipal experience to her role, having worked previously for the towns of Chatham and Harwich.   Mallory began work in August at the Cape Cod Commission’s front desk, providing administrative support to the Commission’s members and staff.  

Jennifer Clinton |Community Development Planner 

Jennifer Clinton was promoted to the position of Community Development Planner in August. In this role, Jennifer will continue providing assistance on economic development issues, including development and implementation of Cape Cod’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. Jennifer will analyze economic and environmental trends in the region and continue engaging stakeholders on regional and local planning topics such as coastal resiliency. Previously, as a Special Projects Coordinator, Jennifer planned and implement community outreach projects,  helped develop decision support tools like the Cape Cod Coastal Planner, and supported communities’ initiatives around wastewater, housing, and the economy.
