Second OneCape Summit to focus on wastewater plan progress, technologies
The Cape Cod Commission will host the second One Cape wastewater summit on June 23 and 24 at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis.
This year will focus on implementation of the Section 208 Plan Update across the 15 towns. Updates and examples from Cape communities working toward improved coastal water quality will be featured.
US EPA Region 1 Administrator Curt Spaulding is among the speakers scheduled to appear.
Breakout sessions are planned on regulation, financing, community engagement and scenario planning.
The Summit is scheduled a week before the July 1 deadline for towns to submit plans for their shared watersheds. MassDEP provided $700,000 to the Commission in April to help towns meet that deadline.
There is no charge to attend, but reservations are require. More information about One Cape’s scheduled speakers, presentations and events will be posted in the near future.
Last year, more than 350 people attended the first One Cape summit, which included an opportunity for selectmen and town councilors to hear directly from US EPA, MassDEP, the Commission and the Conservation Law Foundation on wastewater issues affecting Cape Cod.
