OneCape 2024 - Thank You
Earlier this month we welcomed more than four hundred people from Cape Cod, the Commonwealth, and beyond to the Wychmere Beach Club for our 10th annual OneCape. We had an exciting lineup of keynote speakers, breakout sessions, mobile workshops, and plenty of networking and connecting opportunities. With passionate and knowledgeable speakers and attendees, the summit undoubtedly left us all feeling inspired to take on the important work that lies ahead.
Since the first OneCape summit, the region has faced tremendous challenges but has also seen tremendous progress. Initiated as an opportunity to engage stakeholders to build consensus in addressing our wastewater challenges, the Summit has evolved with the region’s needs. While wastewater remains a critical issue facing our region, projects are advancing with regular and secure funding, and it is now one of many topics at OneCape. Now, we use this venue to launch and advance initiatives to ensure our region’s future in other areas, from attainable housing to climate change mitigation to our critical infrastructure.
Over the course of two days, we heard about new ideas and emerging initiatives and the work we collectively need to do to ensure sustainable infrastructure, provide equitable broadband access, protect our valuable freshwater resources, and supply diverse and attainable housing opportunities to sustain a strong and vibrant Cape Cod. Providing the resources, creating the connections, and hosting the forums to enable local action and regional collaboration is what OneCape – and the work of the Commission—is, and has always been, about.
I hope all who attended, left the OneCape eager to tackle our greatest challenges with creative ideas and a renewed commitment to keeping a special place special.
