Notice of Public Meeting: Orleans Complete Streets
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (October 22, 2020) – The Cape Cod Commission and the Town of Orleans will be holding a virtual public meeting on Thursday, November 5, 2020 to discuss the development of a Complete Streets Prioritization Plan for the town of Orleans.
Use this link to join the meeting: https://capecodcommission.org/transportation/join
A “complete street” provides accommodations for all users, including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists and persons with disabilities. The presentation will include an overview of the Complete Streets program and a draft priority listing of 43 separate Complete Streets projects.
Projects on the draft ranking include new sidewalk construction, intersection improvements, and enhanced bicycling infrastructure. The focus of the meeting will be to gather public feedback on the priority ranking. The town will then refine that ranking for submittal to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).
As guided by the input from the public meetings and in conjunction with the Town of Orleans, Cape Cod Commission staff will prepare a final report and the complete streets prioritization plan. The prioritization plan will be submitted to MassDOT as part of the town’s ongoing participation in their Complete Streets Program. Approved projects are eligible for up to $400,000 in construction funding from MassDOT.
