Commission Welcomes New Staff
The Cape Cod Commission welcomed three new staff members in the past two months.
Dr. Mahesh Ramachandran joined the Commission as its new Environmental Economist on Dec. 9. Among other duties, Mahesh will work with Chief Economic Development Officer Leslie Richardson on the “triple bottom line” model for wastewater financing as part of the Section 208 Water Quality Plan update. This approach looks to balance decisions based on their environmental, economic and societal effects.
More broadly, he will work as part of a team to craft economic strategies for the region, ensuring an understanding of the value and benefits from the natural environment. Mahesh has a Ph.D. from Clark University and was most recently conducting research at Yale University.
Jennifer Clinton started as a Special Projects Coordinator on the Administration Team in January. Jennifer will be engaging in internal and external communications efforts for the Commission, and will be working with the economic development team on regional issues affecting Cape Cod, including wastewater.
Jennifer holds a M.S. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of Connecticut and a B.A. in Politics from Fairfield University. Her past research encompasses local and international environmental policy, ocean management, and ecosystem valuation. These experiences led to her interest in science communications and its contribution to the balance of economic development and conservation.
Garry Meus is the latest addition to to the staff, started the last week in January as a Regulatory Officer II. He earned his bachelor degree from the Université de Montréal in Landscape Architecture, and received his graduate degree from the University of New Orleans in Urban and Regional Planning with a concentration in Historic Preservation. His experience spans from the private, public, and non-profit sectors with a professional focus on urban design and sustainability. And when not engulfed in raising his twin toddler sons with his wife, he is an award-winning photographer.
