A Jan. 15, 2015 informational meeting will introduce the Canal Area Transportation Study to the general public and seeks input on draft goals and objectives. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is hosting the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay.

Meeting Date: Thursday, January 15th 2015, starting at 7:00 PM

Meeting Location: Admirals Hall on the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Campus, 101 Academy Drive in Bourne. Directional signs will be posted on the campus.

Meeting Purpose:

To introduce the study to the general public, and solicit input on the draft goals and objectives, and other study framework items. This is the first of a series of public meetings that will be held through the course of the study.

Study Purpose:

This study effort will examine existing and future multimodal transportation deficiencies and needs around the Cape Cod Canal area in Bourne and Sandwich. The study will also entail the development and analysis of a full range of transportation alternatives including highway, interchange, and non-highway improvements, as well as options and design elements that improve access for all modes. The alternatives considered will also include the evaluation of potential alignments for an additional crossing over the Cape Cod Canal. The overall product of the study, which is estimated to be completed by the end of 2015, will be a package of short, medium, and long-term recommendations for improvements.

This meeting is accessible to people with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency. Accessibility and language services will be provided free of charge, upon request, as available.
