Bicycle racks and related equipment available to Cape Cod towns

01 GosnoldStLandingProvincetown

To encourage bicycling throughout the region, the Cape Cod Bike Rack Program provides municipalities with low-cost bike racks and other related equipment. Since 2016, the program has distributed almost $110,000 worth of equipment to eleven towns. The program is made possible through funds administered by the Cape Cod Commission on behalf of the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization. The towns of Orleans and Sandwich received awards through the latest round of funding. Towns, transportation agencies and other public entities are eligible to purchase bike racks and receive reimbursement under this program.

Participating towns have purchased a variety of bike racks as well as “fix-it” stations that include bicycle pumps and simple tools.  Applicants are responsible for shipping charges and installation – which must occur on public property.  Applicants must purchase the equipment and then apply for reimbursement from the Commission.

The current funding round has a balance of over $70,000 which will be dispersed on a first-come-first-served basis.  Interested applicants should consult program documents & requirements at the Cape Cod Commission’s website:  https://www.capecodcommission.org/our-work/bike-rack-program/
