Barnstable Local Comprehensive Plan

Overview

The Town of Barnstable is updating its Local Comprehensive Plan (LCP). To help with this effort, the Town sought to compile maps and data reflecting the existing conditions of the town to be used in the local comprehensive planning effort, as well as related planning, housing, and economic development initiatives.

The Commission helped the town develop a library of existing conditions maps in an online LCP data viewer and dashboard that can be used in public engagement efforts supporting the LCP update. This dashboard incorporates an online viewer and maps created in 2020 into a tool that allows users to explore maps, statistics, and other data by topic area.

In developing the LCP Data Viewer, the Commission worked with the Town to identify statistics and metrics across a wide variety of topic areas. Taken together, these data points provide a current picture of the Town that can help lay a foundation for future visioning and planning.
