Note: The meeting will be held virtually, with members of the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization participating remotely, pursuant to Chapter 20 of the Acts of 2021, An Act Relative to Extending Certain Covid-19 Measures Adopted During the State of Emergency, signed into law on June 16, 2021.

  5. Federal Certification Review Public Comments:As required every four years for areas with a population over 200,000, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will be reviewing the metropolitan transportation planning process for the Barnstable urbanized area through a Certification Review of the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). FHWA and FTA staff will describe the Certification Review process and will invite members of the public to share their views of how the metropolitan transportation planning process is conducted in the region. 
  6. Cape Rail Study: Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) staffwill give a presentation on the Final Report for the Cape Rail Study, a MassDOT study that is evaluating alternatives for extending year-round passenger rail to Cape Cod with connections to the communities of Middleborough and Wareham. 
  7. 2022 Meetings Logistics: Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) members will discuss the anticipated meeting dates and potential formats for calendar year 2022 MPO meetings.
  8. Reports: MassDOT staff will discuss the status of the Cape Cod Canal Area Transportation Improvement Program and Transportation Improvement Program projects. Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority and Cape Cod Commission staff will report on recent and upcoming transportation initiatives across Cape Cod.
  9. New Business: Topics not reasonably anticipated by the Chair more than 48 hours before the meeting.
