The Cape Cod Commission is pleased to release Housing Cape Cod: The Regional Strategy. This comprehensive document identifies policies and strategies for appropriate housing development and redevelopment to address housing supply, affordability, and availability challenges while protecting the region’s sensitive resources.  

The Cape Cod Commission has released the draft 2024 Cape Cod Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for a 21-day public comment period. The CEDS is a five-year strategic plan for economic development on Cape Cod. The plan is updated every five years in collaboration with the Barnstable County Economic Development Council (BCEDC) and local and regional stakeholders. It defines an action plan with priority projects to move Cape Cod's economy toward a sustainable future.   

The Cape Cod Commission is seeking community members to join the Vision Zero Advisory Committee to help shape the future of transportation safety on Cape Cod.

The Cape Cod Commission and Town of Sandwich have released the Draft Town of Sandwich Municipal Digital Equity Plan for a 30-day public review and comment period through May 20, 2024.

As part of the annual transportation planning process, the Cape Cod Commission is planning several outreach events designed to inform the public about and gather comments on the Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) and the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). 

During a meeting held on March 25, 2024, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) released the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2024-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 2 for a 21-day public review and comment period. The TIP serves as a prioritized listing of roadway, bridge, and transit projects proposed for implementation during the next five (5) federal fiscal years.

During its meeting on March 22, 2024, the Cape Cod and Islands Water Protection Fund Management Board voted to adopt a new model for providing subsidies to projects listed on the Clean Water Intended Use Plan (IUP), beginning with projects listed on the 2023 IUP. Fund disbursements will shift from a principal forgiveness model to one that provides a portion of the 25% subsidy over the loan term. Subsidy payments are made when principal payments on the loan are due.

The Cape Cod Commission and the Town of Bourne have released the Draft Town of Bourne Municipal Digital Equity Plan for a 21-day public review and comment period.

During a meeting held on January 22, 2024, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) released the Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2024-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment 1 for a 21-day public review and comment period.

The Cape Cod Commission is pleased to invite Cape and Islands students in grades 9-12 to apply for the Climate Ambassador Program. The Program is an initiative to educate, engage, and empower young people on Cape Cod to work together to combat the impacts of climate change. Applications are due by midnight on December 22, 2023.
